HOTEL EXCELSIOR REOPENED
12.06.2008. // 14:11

The hotel has undergone extensive renovation and stylish refurbishments, costing over 22 million euro to emerge as one of the most luxurious hotel in Mediterranean.

Architects, designers and the entire ALH team has worked tirelessly to restore this iconic property to its rightful place as flagship hotel in the most fashionable resort on the Adriatic coast.

Situated amid the UNESCO Dubrovnik Old town and overlooking the Adriatic Sea, the hotel stunning location has been integrated into the new design. The emphasis of designer Renata Strok was to compliment the hotel's location and to honour the historic heritage and the traditional Medditeranean design of the hotel, while upgrading the property to meet the expectations of today's most discerning guests. It’s 22 million euros renovation played that up by eschewing pure modernism and mixing contemporary elements with references to the hotel’ 1950s origins.

The Excelsior has a completely new reception, restaurants, indoor pool and improved spa and wellness facilities. The hotel has a 158 luxurious rooms, including two presidential suites and 14 de luxe suites. Presidential suites with 175 square meters offer pure luxury with design details such as the handmade linen with local ethnic embroidery.

The hotel has six multifunctional conference rooms ranging from 15 to 650 participants, with an adjoining club to enhance the conference experience. Following global health food trends in the hotel business Hotel Excelsior has four restaurants, including a Japanese restaurant. The former à la carte restaurant Taverna Rustica is turned into a luxurious villa for six with a magnificent 70sq metre living room, stunning bedrooms, two guest suites and four terraces with a pool. The hotel’s legendary Abacus Bar experienced a complete transformation, bringing back a nostalgic 'bellezza' and cosy elegance to the Excelsior, making the bar, with its unique Mediterranean décor, the heart and soul of the time-honoured hotel. Each piece of furniture is a unique item and tailor-made to fit perfectly in the relaxing ambiance of the Piano Bar. The position of the Piano Bar will be its most distinctive feature, as all corners of the bar will overlook, through five-metre high glass walls, the most beautiful view in the world – the historic centre of Dubrovnik.
